Checking your NIN using the *346# is the easiest method. However, it is important that you have a minimum of N50 airtime on your phone.
After getting your NIN, try to screenshot it to save yourself from spending the money over and over again because if you try it 10 times, you will pay for each of the 10 times.
- Ensure you have at least 20 Naira airtime balance.
- Dial *346# on your mobile phone.
- Select option 1 to retrieve your NIN.
- Provide the required information as prompted.
- If successful, you’ll receive your NIN.
If this method does not work, it is either because there is no airtime on your SIM, or that is not the sim you used to register your NIN.
How To Check NIN via The NIMC app
If you have previously downloaded and logged into the NIMC app then you can use this method. All you have to do is login to the app with your password or biometrics if you have set that up previously and you can also use the perform NIN lookup by following the steps below:
- Download the NIMC app
- On the login page, tap on the I don’t know my NIN
- Tap on perform NIN lookup
- Input the required details and allow it to load
- Your NIN will be displayed
This method is very good if you do not have access to the phone number you used while registering for NIN. However, I had to try it a couple of times before it worked.
