Olamide Adedeji was born on the 15th of March 1989 in his hometown, Bariga, Lagos state. He is the second-born child of Pa Adedeji and Ronke Osisanya Adedeji. He has two siblings, Temmy Gold and Eniola Olamilekan, popularly known as DJ Enimoney, the official DJ of YBNL Nation.

Education 

Olamide had both his Primary and Secondary Education in Lagos and later went to nearby Ogun State for his University degree at Tai Solarin University Of Education In Ijebu Ogun State, Nigeria, where he studied Mass Communication. At the onset, he wanted to be a footballer but later found his talent in music.

The renowned hip-hop artist, Olamide, revealed in 2017 that he dropped out of University. However, not because he needed to improve academically but because of his father’s inability to fund his studies due to financial constraints. 

He opened up about this when asked to motivate pupils in Nigeria at a Summer Camp organised by the Ogun State Government for Secondary Schools.

After spending just a year with Coded Tunes Record Label, he parted ways with the label and started his record label, YBNL Nation, in 2012, where he released his second Album, titled YBNL, November 2012.

In 2013, the star released the “Baddest Guy Ever Liveth” album. It included a couple of popular singles. In 2014, there came another album titled “Street OT”. The artist has been releasing albums every year since 2011.

2015 was super creative for him, as he released two studio albums that year, “2 Kings” and “Eyan Mayweather”. In 2016, Olamide released “The Glory.” After “The Glory”, the musician created a collection of the best songs he has ever written. This collection was titled “The Best of Olamide”.

  1. Rapsodi

Rapsodi was Olamide’s first studio album, released in 2011 and this paved the way for collaborations with top musicians like  Wizkid, Reminisce, D’Banj, and 9ice.

2. YBNL Album

Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL) was the second studio album. It featured singles such as “ILefo Illuminati,” “First of All,” “Stupid Love,” and “Voice of the Street” served as promotional material for the Album.

3. Baddest Guy Ever Liveth

Olamide released his third studio album, titled Baddest Guy Ever Liveth. It was made available for public listening by YBNL Nation on November 7, 2013.

The Album was recorded by Olamide between 2012 and 2013, featuring guest appearances from Pheelz, Buckwyla, Ketchup, Ice Prince, Pepenazi, Endia, Viktoh, B.Banks, Phyno, and Bez, among others.

Pheelz was responsible for the production of the whole Album, except for the thirteenth track titled “Sitting on the Throne.” There were four singles released in promotion of Baddest Guy Ever Liveth.

4. Street OT.

Olamide announced the release of his fourth studio album, titled Street OT, on November 14, 2014, through YBNL Nation. This Album is the follow-up to his Baddest Guy Ever Liveth album, which was released in 2013.

The songs “Story For The Gods” and “Goons Mi” served as introductions to the Album Street OT, which featured guest performances, including Pasuma, Lil Kesh, Chinko Ekun, Phyno, Don Jazzy, and Reminisce, among others. Pheelz, B-Banks, and Young Jonn were responsible for its production. 

5. 2 Kings

In 2015, Olamide and Phyno released a joint project under the name 2 Kings. On April 1, 2015, it was quietly made available on Cloud 9 and the iTunes Store by Penthauze Music and YBNL Nation.

Both platforms received little promotion ahead of their launch. The Album contains guest appearances and collaborations from musicians and producers like Wizkid, Lil Kesh, Storm Rex, Pheelz, Major Bangz, B.Banks, and Young John.

In the time leading up to the production of the Album, Olamide and Phyno often worked together on several tracks, including “Ghost Mode” and “Dope Money.

6. Eyan Mayweather

Olamide’s 5th studio album, Eyan Mayweather, was released on November 23, 2015. The album follows 2 Kings, which was a joint effort between Olamide and Phyno and distributed by YBNL Nation. Pheelz, Young Jonn, B Banks, and ID Cabasa produced the album. 

7. The Glory

This was his 6th studio album, The Glory, was released worldwide on December 23, 2016. YBNL Nation distributed the album, while Pheelz produced it in the studio.

8. Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem features Omah Lay, Fireboy DML, Peruzzi, Bad Boy Timz, Bella Shmurda, and Phyno. A number of producers have been credited with the album’s production, including Young John, Pheelz, P. Prime, ID Cabasa, and VStix. Streams for the album reached 500 million on June 1, 2021, according to the Olamide Music Chart.

9. UY Scuti

On March 16, 2021, Olamide announced that he had completed his work on another album. On April 18, he announced that he would release the Album UY Scuti on June 18. Olamide said that the idea behind the name “UY Scuti” was his kid.

After releasing his 12th studio album on February 5, 2022, Olamide hinted at his impending retirement.
